Defining Word: Savor

taste (good food or drink) and enjoy it completely.
enjoy or appreciate (something pleasant) completely, especially by dwelling on it.
As in she sits alone
in a booth made for four.
Doesn’t have to worry
about double dipping
the salsa or sharing the chips.
She fights the urge to rush,
tells herself to breathe slower,
lets each grain of rice rest
on her tongue for just a second.
The waiter asks if she would like
another drink but she is still sipping
the first, making friends with the tequila
and lime and cucumber and salt.
In the reflection of the window
she sees a woman at a table by herself.
The woman looks peaceful, content,
and it takes her a moment to realize
the woman is her.
Every night when I breastfeed my baby I savour the feel of his soft little hands 🥰
